Location
The Taw Valley, which is probably most famous in Henry Williamson’s book Tarka the Otter, offers an excellent base for guests to visit the beautiful countryside and numerous attractions in North Devon.
The farm is located just outside of Umberleigh on the A377 and is a 45 minute drive from Junc. 27 of the M5 & easily accessible by train with a direct link to Exeter St Davids & Barnstaple.

The nearby towns of Barnstaple and South Molton are both within 15 minutes drive away and offer a range of shopping facilities to suit all tastes. In addition there are also a number of local farm shops offering excellent local produce, the nearest of which is located on the neighbouring farm.
The farm offers beautiful walks along both sides of the A377. You can choose to walk down to and along the River Taw where various birds are often seen including Herons, Kingfishers & the regular site of Buzzards hunting. There is also the 35acre wood – a designated county wildlife site – where you can often catch a glimpse of red and roe deer.

Further afield North Devon offers a number of stunning sandy beaches including the miles of golden sands & dunes to explore at Saunton and popular surfing beaches at Woolacombe and Croyde. For the more adventurous, there is The National Trust’s stunning Woody Bay where a steep tree lined cliff walk down leads you to beautiful turquoise bay. Or there is Exmoor National park with its quaint villages & unspoilt countryside which is only a short drive away.
